Visualization types
When inspecting your data, use the Visualization Selector to select a visualization type. The table below provides guidelines for use of the visualization types and correlates, depending on the chosen view, the available field types in the dataset to their respective drop zones in the Layout panel.

| Table: Presents data in rows and columns. Useful when inspecting and validating non-aggregated data. | Any |

view.
Columns
Pivot Table: Presents data in rows and columns summarized or broken down by selected fields. Useful when inspecting and validating across all of your data.

Bar: Presents grouped data with horizontal bars in lengths proportional to the values that they represent. Useful for most data, best with a limited number of values to display.

Stacked Bar: Presents grouped data with horizontal bars broken down by another field with lengths proportional to the values represented and each bar representing a total. Useful for most data, best with a limited number of values to display.

Line: Presents data as a series of points connected by line segments. Useful for visualizing trends over time. NoteIn Stream
View, if a date field is used on the horizontal axis, the chart shows
a time series on that axis; if a number field is used on the horizontal axis, the
chart shows the numbers across that axis.

Area: Presents an aggregate of the data. Useful for timelines and runs. Helps identify trends quickly by showing totals and how they are moving relative to each other. NoteIn Stream
View, if a date field is used on the horizontal axis, the chart shows
a time series on that axis; if a number field is used on the horizontal axis, the
chart shows the numbers across that axis.

Pie: Presents data circularly, divided into slices, where a slice is proportional to the quantity of data it represents as part of the whole. Useful when presenting numerical worth relative to a whole group.

Sunburst: Presents data as a multilevel pie chart to represent the proportion of different values found at each level in a hierarchy, where each outward ring represents more detailed information relating to the inner ring to which it is connected. Fields containing empty slices are shown as gaps. Useful for numerical analysis of hierarchical data.

Scatter: Presents data to show the relationship between two fields, where each point expresses values through its location and color. Useful for visualizing a large number of data points. NoteIn Stream
View, if a date field is used on the horizontal or vertical axis, the
chart shows a time series on that axis.

Bubble: Presents data as a set of disks plotted on horizontal and vertical axes, showing the intersection of the x and y values at each data point where each disk expresses values through its location, size, and color. Useful for timelines and when showing the categorical relationship between three sets of numerical measures. NoteIn Stream
View, if a date field is used on the horizontal or vertical axis, the
chart shows a time series on that axis.

Heat Grid: Presents data as a matrix that uses color and square size to represent data values. Useful in identifying patterns of performance and for comparing categorical data using color.

Geo Map: Presents a geospatial summary of your data using size, color, and location. Useful for understanding data geographically. The non-measure field needs to be annotated with localization information (through auto-modeling or the Annotate Stream step). You must have a license from Google to use Google Maps with Pentaho software.
