Start and Stop BA Design Tools

Each of the BA design tools has a specific function, so you start and stop each one individually.

Starting BA Design Tools

As part of the installation, we provide different ways to help you start each design tool, depending on the operating system you use. This table shows you the options.

Operating System Installation Method Start the Design Tools
Microsoft Windows Pentaho Installation Wizard Click Start > Programs > Pentaho Enterprise Edition > Design Tools and double-click one of these items to launch the design tool.

Microsoft Windows Manually installing with your own repository

Create shortcuts to the .bat file or each design tool and add them to the Start menu. Or navigate to the one of these directories and run the design tool's .bat file to launch it.

Aggregation Designer

  • \pentaho\design-tools\aggregation-designer\startaggregationdesigner.bat

Metadata Editor

  • \pentaho\design-tools\metadata-editor\metadata-editor.bat

Report Designer

  • \pentaho\design-tools\report-designer\report-designer.bat

Schema Workbench

  • \pentaho\design-tools\schema-workbench\workbench.bat
Linux Pentaho Wizard, Manually installing with your own repository

Navigate to the one of these directories and run the design tool's .sh file to launch it.

Aggregation Designer

Stopping BA Design Tools

Here are the basic methods for stopping the BA design tools:

  • Stop the Aggregation Designer by clicking on the x icon in upper corner.
  • Stop the Metadata Editor, Report Designer, and Schema Workbench from the File menu.
