Set Field Value to a Constant
The Set field value to a constant transformation replaces the value of a field with a constant that you define.
General
Enter the following information in the transformation step fields:
Field | Description |

Step name | Specify the unique name of this step on the canvas. You can customize the name or leave it as the default. |
Use variable in constant | Select to use a variable replacement within a constant. |
Options
You can specify what fields to replace with the Fields table. Click Get Fields to populate the table with input from the PDI data stream. The table contains the following columns:
Column | Description |
---|---|
Field | Specify the field that contains the value you want to replace. |
Replace by value | Specify the value that will replace the original field value specified. |
Conversion mask (Date) | Specify a date format for the replaced field. See Common Formats for information on common valid date formats you can use in this step. |
Set empty string? | Specify ‘Y’ to allow an empty string when the value is empty; otherwise, a null value is used. |
Metadata Injection Support
All fields of this step support metadata injection. You can use this step with ETL Metadata Injection to pass metadata to your transformation at runtime.
