About this release
You can use IIoT Core to gain insights into your industrial operations by onboarding and processing data close to its source through a flexible and composable architecture.
IIoT Core includes a small gateway software stack called the IIoT Gateway that can ingest data from automation and IIoT devices. The gateway software and device is managed by a management node referred to as IIoT Core Services that is operated through a user interface. IIoT Core Services also serves as a data aggregator for multiple gateways.
Features
The following features and enhancements are new in this release:
· IIoT Core Services
o Integration with Data Catalog v7.3
o IIoT Core UI improvements
o Added REST API support
o Streamlined upgrade procedure from IIoT Core 5.0 to 5.1.
o Support for Kubernetes Engine v1.23.9 for on-premises environments
o Support for Google Kubernetes Engine v1.23.9
Resolved issues
· Spark security issue, CVE-2022-25647, is resolved when you install or upgrade to IIoT Core 5.1. When using Spark Operator with earlier versions of IIoT Core, you must follow the instructions provided in the IIoT Core v5.0.1 Release Notes.
Known issues and workarounds
· If the gateway is disconnected from IIoT Core for a long time, the gateway may run out of store and forward volume space. To mitigate this issue, tune the store and forward retry count and interval parameters via the IIoT Core Services UI until the error no longer occurs. A specific value cannot be recommended as that value depends on the gateway data ingestion rate. The higher the data volume, the more likely that store and forward will use up the available volume space in the event of a disconnect.
· Running the IIoT Core 5.1.0 installer produces multiple warning messages, which can be safely ignored.
· While uploading files to the repository from the IIoT Core Services UI using Firefox or Safari, if an upload disruption occurs due to browser logout or page refresh, the resume upload function will fail. If this happens, restart the upload.
